About the author

Jean Cosyn

Born in Charleroi in 1964, Jean studied at ISAE La Cambre – Architecture, from which he graduated in 1986.

For 30 years, from 1986 to 2016, he worked on numerous projects, mainly public, as an independent architect and managing director of Cosyn & Cosyn S.A., an architecture and urban planning office.

In 2016, he joined the teams responsible for the renovation of the barracks site / Usquare and is currently working at the Directie Infrastructuur of the VUB.

Beyond his role as project manager – Architect, he is involved, in his own way and at his own level, in every initiative aimed at strengthening the links between the two universities.

Photography has always played an important role in his life. For him, it is an essential means of expression, a field of research, as well as an exploratory domain of our human reality. Geometry, one of the seven liberal arts, resonates for him as much in architecture as in photography, in that it studies the relationships between magnitudes or forms, but also, by natural extension, the relationships between human beings.

His work has been recognised on numerous occasions with more than 200 selections in the LFI-online gallery, as well as a double-page spread in the prestigious magazine Leica Fotografie International (LFI 6.2025).
